Following extensive customer involvement, testing and feedback, QuickBooks QBi series version R8, also known as Service Pack 2, is now available free to all QuickBooks QBi series customers.
Reckon undertook an unprecedented level of development over the past 12 months. The latest QuickBooks QBi series version R8, has been credited by early adopters as the best ever, and notably superior to even earlier versions of QuickBooks QBi series. Users have commented on its robustness, performance and ease of use.
This service pack contains enhancements such as:
- Tax Code selectable on Foreign Transactions
- Emailing with Outlook Express. Please note that Outlook Express was not supported in previous versions. Due to customer feedback this functionality has been implemented
- Missing Cheque Report enhancement
- Addition of Gross Price on Item List
- Ability to edit Tax Amounts
- Tax reporting enhancements
- Updated help files
Important Note: Individual Service Pack 2 updates have been prepared for each of the three previous releases of QuickBooks 2008/09 QBi series. It is important to download and install the Service Pack that corresponds with your current version of QuickBooks 2008/09 QBi series.
Please note that the below steps only apply to QuickBooks 2008/09 QBi series customers. If you are using QuickBooks 2007/08 or a previous version you will need to uninstall your current QuickBooks installation and reinstall using a new CD. Please contact our customer service line on 1300 784 253 to order a replacement CD.
To identify your current software version please follow the instructions below:
- Open QuickBooks and press the 'Ctrl' and '1' keys.
- A new window will appear in the foreground titled 'Product Information'.
- In the top left hand corner your current version of QuickBooks will be listed e.g. Product QuickBooks Pro 2008-09 Release R7P.
- If you are using a current R3 (first release of QBi to customers), R6 (tax update release), or R7 (foreign currency release) version please download and install the corresponding Service Pack.
- If you are using a current R2 version you will need to uninstall your current QuickBooks installation and reinstall using a new CD. Please contact our customer service line on 1300 784 253 to order a replacement CD.
Review before upgrading: Before upgrading to QuickBooks 2008/09 Service Pack 2 please check your Employee Centre and follow these instructions:
- In the Employee Centre (accessible under the Employees tab) access the list of pays by selecting the employees tab.
- Change the 'View' field to All Employees, the 'Show' field to All Transactions and the 'Date' field to All.
- After checking all employees (by clicking on each individual employee), if any transaction types are labelled Bank Payment, please do not upgrade to QuickBooks Service Pack 2. Email servicepack2@reckon.com.au with your Customer ID and QuickBooks Software version, and a Reckon representative will contact you with further upgrade instructions.
Recommendation: After installing QuickBooks 2008/09 Service Pack 2, you should rebuild the data file and check the trial balance. This rebuild should proceed only after the installation of Service Pack 2. If the trial balance is incorrect please follow the instructions outlined in the Reckon Knowledge Browser article Q12155.
Microsoft Vista users: If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 and use the email feature in QuickBooks, please follow the instructions outlined in the Reckon Knowledge Browser article Q12293.
