Data services: Recovery
 What is Data Recovery?

Data Recovery is a service provided to customers that have experienced data corruption on their Quicken, QuickBooks and Quicken Payroll data files.

A file that has become damaged will typically have symptoms similar to the following.

The file cannot be opened by the program
The program crashes with an error message when the user performs typical operations such as viewing detail information, editing records, generating reports, etc
 The program displays inconsistent information
Backup sets not able to be restored successfully

What kinds of data files can be recovered?

Reckon will provide data recovery services for current supported versions of the products, or if you are upgrading from a retired version to a currently supported version. Any data returned will be in the current version format. This may require you to upgrade your software to the most current version available.

What damaged media can you perform recovery from?

Data can usually be recovered from damaged backup disks (floppy 3.5inch media) that are no longer able to be read by the Windows operating system.

If you have experienced a hard disk crash, or your backup media is damaged you may require the services of companies specializing in retrieval of data from physically damaged hardware such as Hard Disk Drives, IOmega Zip Disks, LS120 Super Disks, Tape drives, etc before you can make use of our Data Services.

Below are only some of the companies we know of that provide hardware based recovery services:

Prices
Standard Data Recovery
  • Sunset Version Surcharge will apply for this service ($50.00)

For every 10MB of uncompressed file size for QDF, QBW and QPW files are charged at $250.00

To calculate the fee:
  • Take the uncompressed file size and round it up to the closest 10MB mark
  • Determine how many 10MB blocks the file can be divided into
  • Multiply standard fee $250.00 by the derived number
  • Apply the Advantage Member Discount of 40% off the standard price if applicable
NOTE:
  • QBB (QuickBooks Backup) files are compressed
  • Professional Partners receive the same Advantage Member discount for their OWN data files.
  • Professional Partner clients MUST be Advantage Members to receive the Advantage Member discount for files submitted on their behalf
Example
eg. if a company file is 39MB, it is rounded up to 40MB
  • then the size in MB is divided by 10
  • giving a multiplier of 4 (40 divided by 10)
  • price per of 10MB of $250 is multiplied by the multiplier
  • giving a recovery fee of $1000.00 (4 x $250)
any Advantage Member discount is then applied
  • in this case the Advantage Member price is $600 (0.6 x $1000) or ($1000 - {0.4 x $1000})
